FINDING THE RIGHT MIX

Colts safety Bob Sanders missed this past Sunday's game with swelling in his knee. Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said Wednesday the hope for the rest of the season is to find a practice schedule allowing Sanders to work enough to adequately prepare while allowing the knee adequate rest.

RIGHT IN IT

Being .500 after eight games wasn't exactly the Colts' goal entering the season. But on the day after an 18-15 victory over the New England Patriots at Lucas Oil Stadium, Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said the record has the Colts firmly in the AFC playoff picture.

READY TO GO

Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy said Friday his sense is safety Bob Sanders and defensive end Dwight Freeney will play Sunday in the first preseason game at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Pro Bowl defensive players each returned to practice this past week after extended rehabilitation periods.

A NICE FEELING

The Colts beat the Atlanta Falcons, 16-9, in a preseason game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Saturday night, rallying from an early six-point deficit. The victory was the first for Indianapolis in the 2008 preseason and the Colts' third victory in the last 16 preseason games.

Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, who is entering his third season with the Colts and 13th in the NFL, said 13 seasons for a kicker is a vastly different number than other positions. And that's why when people ask how long he'll play he doesn't really have an answer.
