Browns resign OL Seth McKinney to 1yr deal Written by Wayne A. Lett; Browns 24/7 Staff    Friday, 28 March 2008 For Immediate Release

BROWNS SIGN OL SETH MCKINNEY TO A ONE-YEAR CONTRACT

The Cleveland Browns have signed OL Seth McKinney to a one-year contract, the club announced Friday.

McKinney, 6-feet-3 and 315 pounds, started 8 games for the Browns at right guard in 2007 before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the season.

Seth started eight games for us last year and with his versatility as a guard and center, this signing should solidify the interior part of our offensive line,” said Browns Senior Vice President and General Manager, Phil Savage. “At this point, we feel we have seven starters competing for five positions."

McKinney, a native of Buffalo, Texas, joined the league as a third-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins out of Texas A&M in 2002. He appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins during each of his first three seasons in the league, becoming the club’s starter at center in 2004. He started 13 games at center in 2005 before missing the entire ’06 season with a neck injury. McKinney was originally signed by the Browns as an unrestricted free agent on March 14, 2007. Overall, McKinney is a veteran of 69 NFL games with 42 starts. He will enter his seventh NFL season this fall.   Browns hire two assistant coaches to staff Written by Wayne A. More from Browns 24:

BROWNS NAME RICHARD McNUTT AS ASSISTANT DEFENSIVE BACKS COACH AND CHRIS CAMINITI AS ASSISTANT SPECIAL TEAMS COACH

The Cleveland Browns have named Richard McNutt assistant defensive backs coach and Chris Caminiti will now serve as the head coach liaison / assistant special teams coach, the club announced Thursday.

McNutt spent the last four seasons coaching defensive backs at the collegiate level. McNutt was the defensive backs coach at the University of Toledo (2007), Virginia Military Institute (2006) and Washington and Jefferson College (2004-05) for two seasons.

A native of Park Forest, Ill., McNutt graduated from Ohio State in 2004 with a degree in family resource management, specializing in consumer affairs. McNutt played cornerback at Ohio State (2000-02) and was a member of the Ohio State 2002 National Championship Team. McNutt played in all 24 games his freshman and sophomore seasons. He had two starts as a sophomore and six starts as a junior. However, his college football career ended due to chronic ankle injuries and McNutt remained at Ohio State as a student coach for his final two years.

More on Browns:

Caminiti is in his second year with the Browns after serving as the assistant to the head coach in 2007. Caminiti will continue to work with Romeo Crennel and will have an expanded role with the special teams unit in 2008.

Caminiti joined the Browns organization after serving as the director of athletics at West Los Angeles College from 2005-06. Prior to that, Caminiti was the director of football operations for the New England Patriots from 2002-04.   Browns sign Special Teams ace LB Kris Griffin Written by Official Site    Thursday, 27 March 2008 The Browns have secured one of their most valuable special teams contributors for the 2008 season.

Griffin played in 12 games in his first season as a Brown in 2007. He made 14 special teams tackles, finishing fifth on the team, despite missing the final four games of the season due to a knee injury.

The Rebirth is finally here.

It took us about 10 years, and many heartaches and stumbles along the way, but, is it safe to say that the Brownies are back, as a football team? No This isn't an article, saying how we're going all the way, IMO, we have a long way to go, but isn't it nice to finally have something to look forward, instead of another re-building year? It's nice to see Players that are recognizable by other people in the league, and people being envious of us having them.

I can't say, I've remembered people saying that in a long time. I mean, lets face it, "Big Money" Warren and the other cast of players, just didn't fit well here. There was just something about them that didn't mesh well, The team was named the Cleveland Browns, but did you really feel like they were? Even when they made the playoffs in 2003, it seemed rather more like a quick fix to please the fans, nothing really lasting, Just a team to make the playoffs and then the next year we'd be back to where we started.

But, now, it all feels different. We know have players that seem to fit the mold. Look at Joe Thomas, He seems like a great example of what a Cleveland Browns player should be, A man that skipped the glitz and glammer of New York to go fishing with his family, Pretty typical of his play, not flashy, but he gets the job done and has transformed our offensive line from the league laughing stocks, to the envy of even Pittsburgh. Browns center LeCharles Bentley will continue working out in Arizona "with the blessing of the Browns" despite the fact the team's off-season program began Monday in Berea.

LeCharles will be staying in Arizona and continuing the program he's on out there," said his agent Jonathan Feinsod. "The Browns are fully on board with it."

Browns general manager Phil Savage did not immediately return an email, but coach Romeo Crennel said at the NFL Scouting Combine last month that he expects Bentley to participate in the organized team activities -- or voluntary spring practices -- that begin in May.

LeCharles is doing phenomenal," said Feinsod. "I went to watch him work out in Arizona and he looks bionic. He'll come back and work with the Browns when he has to."

Bentley, 29, will continue his bid to return from a torn left patella tendon suffered in July of 2006. He also suffered a re-tear of the tendon and staph infection that required three additional surgeries. He attempted to come back last season, but remained on the physically unable to perform list for the entire year while he continued to strengthen the knee.

Once the Browns see that LeCharles is LeCharles again, they'll be very pleased," said Feinsod. "He's fully committed to playing this season." Read more...   More...
